Nashua Marine - Boat Winterizing

When preparing to store a boat for extended periods of two months or more, it is best to completely remove all fuel from the tank. If it is difficult or not possible to remove the fuel, maintaining a full tank of fuel with a fuel system treatment & stabilizer added to provide fuel stability and corrosion protection is recommended. A partially full tank is not recommended because the void space above the fuel allows air movement that can bring in water through condensation as the temperature cycles up and down. This condensation potentially becomes a problem.

Nashua Marine uses a Fuel System Treatment & Stabilizer that can help maintain fuel systems in storage. It contains oxidation inhibitors to reduce oxidation and gum formation, metal chelating agents to protect metal components from corrosion, water absorbing agents to reduce the presence of free water, and dispersants to help suspend and disperse debris.

OUTBOARD MOTOR WINTERIZING SERVICES INCLUDE

Check engine and basic operation
Fuel treatment stabilizer is added to preserve both the fuel and the fuel tank for upcoming winter and spring months.
Start up with non-toxic antifreeze for ultimate protection
Inspect the water pump discharge.
Fog the engine block, carburetors and fuel lines.
Four stroke models, change oil filter and refill with manufacturer's recommended four stroke oil.

STERN DRIVE WINTERIZING SERVICES INCLUDE

Run motor and check basic operations.
Inspect water discharge.
Inspect lower unit for water and pressure check if necessary.
Drain water from block and manifolds and refill with marine grade anti-freeze.
Drain oil from engine, replace oil filter, and refill with manufacturer's recommended oil.
Replace water separator filter.
Apply anti-corrosion grease to all out-drive fittings.
Fuel stabilizer is added to preserve both the fuel and the fuel tank for upcoming winter and spring months.
Fog the engine block, carburetors and fuel lines.
Check all belts, hoses and general condition of the boat motor, drive and lower unit.
Drain Gear oil and refill with manufacturer's recommended gear oil.

PULL AND SERVICE OUTDRIVE (outdrive service)

Outdrives should be pulled at least once every two years.
Grease splines on shaft
Grease U-joints
Check condition of Gimble bearing
Check condition of Bellows
Replace gasket and O-rings
